What is the price of a puppy?

Puppies from Heartland Manchester Terriers are $2,000. A non-refundable deposit of $500 is required once puppies are confirmed, with the remaining balance of $1,500 due at the time of pickup.

Pricing reflects careful breeding, comprehensive health testing, responsible puppy raising, and lifetime breeder support.

What ear options are available?

Correct ears for the Standard variety are the naturally erect ear, the cropped ear or the button ear. No preference is given to any of the ear types.

Toy Manchester Terriers must have natural, erect ears for conformation showing. Except for size and ear options, there are no differences between the Standard and Toy varieties of the Manchester Terrier. The Toy variety is a diminutive version of the Standard variety.

*Ear cropping is optional (only for Standards) and is not required. If a puppy is to be cropped, this must be discussed in advance. Cropping involves additional cost unless the buyer has access to a reputable veterinarian experienced in the procedure. Any ear cropping must comply with local laws and veterinary guidelines.

We are happy to discuss ear options, timelines, and expectations so buyers can make an informed decision.

What is the difference between a Standard and a Toy?

The Toy variety shall not exceed 12 pounds. The Standard variety shall be over 12 pounds and not exceeding 22 pounds. Dogs weighing over 22 pounds shall be disqualified (conformation showing). Except for size and ear options, there are no differences between the Standard and Toy varieties of the Manchester Terrier. The Toy variety is a diminutive version of the Standard variety.

What is a Standard Manchester Terrier like to live with?

Standard Manchester Terriers are intelligent, loyal, and observant dogs that form strong bonds with their people. They are active without being frantic and do best in homes that value structure, engagement, and companionship. While affectionate, they are typically thoughtful rather than indiscriminately social and appreciate clear expectations.

Is a Manchester Terrier right for me?

Manchester Terriers are intelligent, observant, and naturally self-assured dogs who thrive with owners that appreciate a thoughtful, balanced companion. They are athletic and enjoy daily activity, but they are not hyperactive or demanding when their needs are met. Manchester Terriers tend to be loyal and deeply bonded to their people, while remaining neutral and composed around strangers rather than overly social.

This breed does well in a structured home where expectations are clear and consistency is valued. In Florida, Manchester Terriers adapt well to warm weather thanks to their short coat, though they should always have access to shade, fresh water, and climate-controlled rest during extreme heat. They are well-suited to active households, performance homes, or individuals who enjoy training and engagement without needing a dog that requires constant attention.

Manchester Terriers are not typically a good fit for homes seeking an indiscriminately friendly or highly dependent dog. They excel with owners who respect their intelligence, independence, and need for both mental and physical stimulation.

Do you health test your dogs?

Yes. All breeding dogs at Heartland Manchester Terriers complete comprehensive health testing appropriate for the breed, with results registered through OFA where applicable. Testing includes genetic screening and clinical evaluations, with additional testing completed as age and circumstance allow.

How often do you have litters?

Heartland Manchester Terriers is a small, purpose-driven program. Litters are planned selectively and infrequently, with each breeding evaluated individually. Quality, health, and long-term responsibility are prioritized over volume.

How are puppies raised?

Puppies are raised in a home environment with early socialization and age-appropriate enrichment. Care is taken to support confidence, resilience, and stability during critical developmental periods.

How do you decide puppy placement?

Placement decisions are made thoughtfully, considering temperament, structure, and the individual goals of each home. While preferences are considered, the priority is matching each puppy to the environment where it is most likely to thrive.

Are puppies sold with full registration?

Pet and companion puppies are sold with limited registration. Full registration may be considered after spay or neuter is completed within the timeframe outlined in the purchase contract. Any breeding arrangements are discussed individually.

What is your spay/neuter policy?

Spay or neuter timing is based on the health and development of the individual dog and is outlined in the purchase contract. The goal is to support long-term physical well-being while preventing inappropriate breeding.

Do you offer a health guarantee?

Yes. Puppies are sold with a written health guarantee outlined in the purchase contract. This guarantee reflects responsible breeding practices and reasonable expectations.

What happens if an owner can no longer keep their dog?

Any dog bred by Heartland Manchester Terriers must be returned to us or placed with our involvement. This lifetime responsibility ensures no dog from our program is ever left without support.

Do you stay in contact with puppy owners?

Yes. We value ongoing communication and appreciate updates throughout the dog’s life. Staying in touch helps us support our dogs long-term and informs future breeding decisions.

Do you have a puppy contract? Can I see it?

Yes. All Heartland Manchester Terriers puppies are placed with a comprehensive Puppy Purchase Agreement designed to protect the puppy, the buyer, and our breeding program.

While the full contract is provided to approved buyers prior to placing a deposit, we believe in transparency and want families to understand our expectations upfront. Key elements of our agreement typically include:

The final agreement may vary slightly based on whether a puppy is placed as a companion, show, or performance prospect. All terms are reviewed with buyers before any money is exchanged, and signatures are collected only after a match is confirmed.

Our goal is clarity, fairness, and lifelong accountability for every puppy we produce.

Can you tell me more about the pedigrees behind your dogs?

Yes. The pedigrees behind our dogs reflect decades of purposeful breeding by established programs known for correct type, sound movement, and long-term consistency. Rather than focusing on names alone, we evaluate how structure, temperament, and reliability appear repeatedly across generations.

We’ve written more about the history, influences, and philosophy behind our pedigrees here:
